Yeah, I totally went there.

I'm sure you've all seen it. That instant mannerism change when a Jedi and a trekkie come in close quarters and know eachothers pledged allegence. From tiny digs to full out word fistacuffs, one HAS to outwit the other. The long standing battle must be won! But, why?

We all have favorites. We all have emotional ties to our favorite characters. I'm sure if we assess the cool factors of both, we can come to some understanding, or at least stop the phaser stunning and light saber slashes.



So lets look at WHY Star Trek is uber awesome:

Teleporters! - Okay so, they have some of the coolest technology. Really they do. Who doesn't want a teleporter?

Sex! - Yeah. The makeout sessions behind closed doors. We TOTALLY know what's going on. The fact that they thought to add that amidst the chaos of intergalactic space travel and attack, genius. 

Diversity! - The fact that every race and culture has been onboard is pretty nifty. Each crew is made up of a very diverse group of people. LOVE THAT! Why would only the arian race exist in outer space??

Spock! - Yeah. He's awesome. I want to learn the vulcan death grip. Like now.

Okay, now that we've seen a few reason why Star Trek rocks our socks......


Let's take a look at why Star Wars is awesome:

Lightsabers! - You can hear the hum now, can't you? Not much to say, but the weapons in Star Wars are barnone. Nothing like a good lightsaber battle.

Darth Vader! - The biggest baddest villian in the universe. Who also happens to be a dad. And has a really cool voice.

The force! - Everyone wants it. Even Silent Bob worked his tubby ass off to try to harness it. To be able to control things with your mind is pretty epic.

The 501st! - The cosplay greats that we know and love. If you don't know them, look them up. Storm Troopers unite! www.501st.com

See, he IS like Yoda. Maybe they're friends.

Ultimately, it comes down to Star Trek being a more realistic SciFi depiction of futuristic technology, whereas Star Wars is a more fantastical take on the future. (My opinion). However, I love both! The characters rock, the villans are evil, the ships are amazing, and the fight scenes.....well.....lets just say I've acted out a "few."

(Insert really cool look at space travel machines. All that's missing is the TARDIS.)



At least we can agree that geek girl cosplay characters of either are equally enticing.



So in closing, CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG???

Why do you consider yourself a sexy geek?
I was nominated in secret so I guess I'm sticking with Facts I'm too modest to say "I'm sexy and I know it."
I'm a stealth nerd/geek that plays video games like a beast, reads sic fi novels, Can gobble up books on Science, Metaphysics, Physics, and just about ANY science interests me. I watch more sci fi than an average woman can consume, and can dress down in my horde sweatshirt OR in a short black dress.
Oh yeah, and I still watch cartoons. And the occasional comic will grace my pile of reading when I have time.

What is your favorite sci-fi/fantasy realm? 
If it were like fringe where we could jump dimensions. OR Dr who. for the time travel and space time continuum fun. OR In bsg viper jock piloting would be amazing and that show makes me feel at complete peace for some strange reason.

Tea or Coffee? 
Tea, Specifically Yerbe Mate (all natural high). It's amazing shit is what I'm saying.

What is your favorite movie? 
Mists of Avalon or Indiana Jones Series (yea I know the last one kinda blew..)

If you could have a super power, what would it be and why? 
I think this one choose me…
Ever since I can remember I dreamt of being able to shoot energy beams and orbs out of me. In particular my hands… AND to move objects with that energy. NOT telekinetically.

If you had your choice, what mythical creature would you be? 
Phoenix. a firebird from egypt (fav culture ever), rebirth? tears heal? enough said…
I don't wanna be cliche and say unicorns but I grew up loving them. I attached a photo for further humiliation and amusement.

Favorite geek gear? 
My red bsg shirt or my big black horde hood.
Have you ever been to a con, and if so, what was your favorite and why?
When I was VERY young I was at a con in Balt. with my brother.. I'm a workaholic. I need to go the next one!! No more excuses.
